Towards an All-Ireland Economy: The Business Approaches and the Political Obstacles, Queens University Belfast - April 2006


The Irish Association held a seminar in Queens University, Belfast that provided an opportunity for discussion of economic issues between representatives of the main political parties in Northern Ireland and expert speakers on economic policies and practices, research and the development of economic policy in Ireland North and South. Speakers included Victor Hewitt, Director ERINI, Professor John Bradley ESRI, Liam Nellis Chief Executive Intertrade Ireland and Michael Smyth, University of Ulster. The event concluded with a panel discussion involving, Mitchell McLaughlin, Sinn Fein, George Dawson, DUP, Sean Farren SDLP, Sean Neesaon, Alliance and Roy Beggs Jr, Ulster Unionist Party.

Speakers included Professor John Bradley ESRI, Dr Michael Smyth, University of Ulster, Victor Hewitt Director ERINI, Liam Nellis CE Inter Trade Ireland, and a panel of politicians from all NI political parties: Sean Fulton SDLP, Mitchell McLaughlin Sinn Fein, Dr Esmond Burnie UP, George Dawson DUP and an Alliance Party spokesman.
